Getting started

What is BIS Date?

A loot-swiping adventure. You help Bis, a living backpack, sort through the gear your hero wins, so the hero always has the best loot. The hero fights on their own down the Long Road while every drop comes up as a card: swipe right to keep it, left to drop it. Five regions and thirty stops lie between camp and the Warlock's Great Castle.

How do I play the tutorial again?

On the title screen, tap Settings, then Play the tutorial again under Help. Your heroes and their progress are kept.

Can I have more than one hero?

Yes. Tap New hero on the title screen. Each hero keeps their own class, gear, level and progress. Costumes and bag tokens belong to you, so every hero shares them.

Can I use my own picture for my hero?

Yes. When you make a hero, tap Add your own art under the faces. For a hero you already have, open the character sheet at camp and tap the portrait. The Hands row on that page sets the skin tone of the hands you see at the fire and the water. Pick a picture from Photos or Files, then pinch and drag to frame it. The picture stays on your iPhone and is never uploaded.

Can I make the game easier or harder?

Tap Settings on the title screen and pick from one to five stars. You can change it any time, and cleared stops keep the best stars you earned on them.

Loot and adventures

What does a cursed item do?

A cursed item looks like an upgrade until you keep it. Then its stats count against your hero for as long as it sits in the bag, and it can't be equipped, sold or dropped. It crumbles when the run ends.

What does Junk do?

Tap a piece in your bag, at camp or on the road, and tap Junk. It gets a little tag so you know it's going. At Odalric's cart, tap Sell from the bag, then Sell all, and pick Junk to sell every tagged piece at once. Changed your mind? Tap the piece again and tap Unjunk. Putting a piece on, or locking it, takes the tag off.

Fishing and cooking

How do I go fishing?

At camp, tap Go fishing and choose a water your hero has reached. You'll need a rod: Nell Fairweather sells rods and bait in the village.

What are fish for?

Your biggest catch of every kind is mounted on the Trophy Wall. Fish you keep go on ice at Tobin Marrow's stall, and Tobin cooks them into meals. Eat a meal from your bag during an adventure for a boost that lasts the rest of the run.

How does fishing on Apple Watch work?

The Apple Watch app needs BIS Date on your iPhone. It fishes with the rod, bait and gold of the hero you're playing, and whatever you catch or buy on your wrist reaches that hero the next time you open the game on your iPhone.

Costumes and purchases

What are bag tokens?

Each costume from the Bag Maker costs gold and one bag token. You start with one. More come in packs of five, or buy unlimited tokens once and pay only gold from then on.

How do I restore my purchases?

Visit the Bag Maker in the village, open the wardrobe, tap your token count, then tap Restore purchases. Unlimited tokens come back on a new device. Packs of five are used up as you spend them, so they don't restore.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles every purchase, so refunds go through Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I make a costume my app icon?

In the wardrobe, tap a costume you own, then tap Use as app icon. iOS asks you to confirm. Wearing a costume never changes the icon on its own.

How do I send Bis stickers in Messages?

In any conversation, tap + next to the message field, then tap BIS Date (swipe up on the list if it's further down). Plain Bis is always there, and every costume you unlock in the game shows up too. Tap a sticker to add it to your message, or drag it onto a bubble in the chat.

Your progress

Is my progress backed up?

Your heroes are saved on your iPhone and included in your iPhone's backups. They don't sync between devices, and deleting the app deletes them.

Where are achievements and leaderboards?

They use Game Center. Sign in under Game Center in your iPhone's Settings and the game records them for you.

What does the game do with my data?

It collects nothing. The privacy page covers exactly what the game keeps and where it goes.
